ASOS has a lot of brand new stuff for Fall 2011 in right now, and I adore these two tops:
I love scalloped hems, as some of you may know, and I also think the color combination of cream and black is very nice, so I am definitely getting both of these!
(I just have to order everything one by one these days, since I had to pay a huge custom's fee on my last purchase from ASOS. So now I avoid ordering more than one thing at a time, since the lower the value of the package, the lower the custom's fee, as well!
So I guess it might take me a while to actually get to these two tops. My ASOS wish list IS getting pretty long, by now, after all)

Today I'm loving...
... these adorable heart print tights from Yves Saint Laurent.
And I don't even normally like tights that much!
I know there are tons of cute tights out there, but I have always prefered actual clothing instead of tights, since I always tend to break them anyway.
So I think these are actually the first tights I have ever really fallen for. It must the the little hearts! I am always a sucker for those!

Today I'm loving...
... this supercute Lace-trimmed wool sweater by Jason Wu.
Of course, it is the lace details that make all the difference to me. I love them! And I love them even more on surprising pieces, like sweatshirts, or shirts that look like sweatshirts anyway.

Online wedding bells
I went to a wedding this week, that was quite lovely. The bride wore a beautiful gown, and these gorgeous Alexander McQueen shoes:
I was very excited to see these shoes IRL, since I have been drooling over them online for ages now. But that wasn't really the most interesting part of the wedding. Instead, their story was very cute. You see, they met on an online dating site, and I know a lot of people really don't think online dating ever works, but I do. I have seen several examples of it in the past, but this is the first couple that I know personally who actually got married after trying a free online dating site.
So if any of you are still so old fashioned that you think only weird people use these services, and that nothing good ever comes out of them, think again! Sometimes they do end up changing lives too!

Stars are taking over
I've already mentioned Dolce & Gabbana's fun star patterned pieces for Fall 2011 before. I personally am a huge fan, so it's nice to see that these Dolce & Gabbana pieces are starting to pop up in online stores now.
Net-a-Porter started selling these pants, for instance:
But if the Dolce & Gabbana price tags are not quite for you, you should also know that ASOS has a lot of cute star patterned pieces this season as well, with much cuter pricetags.
I am personally considering getting this mini dress:
And these cute pants (very similar to the Dolce & Gabbana ones, don't you think?)

Today I'm loving...
... the gorgeous Carolina Herrera lace gown Dianna Agron wore to the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.
I am a huge fan of lace, so whenever lace is used on any garment, I tend to be a fan. But this gown is even prettier than most lace items!
The only thing I am not completely sure about is the belt, I think the gown might have looked even better without it.

Look I am loving right now
The striped blazer! I think it looks so great on so many people (I ran into a girl wearing a stunning white blazer with blue stripes today), so I am really tempted to buy one.
The thing is, I have never really been a big blazer wearer. I mean, I have some of course, but I rarely wear them. Not even this amazing, vintage YSL blazer I got a few years ago. So I am not sure buying more blazers is the best of ideas. But this look is sooo cute, I find it really hard to resist.
Normally what I would do in a situation like this would be to buy a cheap version of the trend, but the cheapest one I have found so far would cost me around $150 (it's from an online store that charges ridiculous amounts to ship to where I live), so it's still a lot of money if you end up never wearing it.
What do you think about this trend? Love it or hate it? Do any of you readers own a striped blazer? And if so, do you actually wear it?

Osman Yousefzda designs capsule collection for John Lewis
If you have been reading this blog for a while, you know how much I love the idea of a capsule collection. This is why I was very happy to hear that a British fashion designer, Osman Yousefzda, is designing just that for British fashion retailer John Lewis.
The collection will be on sale starting September 9, and will consist of "jersey dresses in red and black, a black and white-piped dress-coat and a luxe-cashmere coat in pale grey", according to John Lewis.
That sounds really good to me! For those of you who remember my own attempt to build a capsule wardobe a while ago, those were actually the exact same colors I had planned for that capsule wardrobe as well, so this collection sounds right up my alley!
And I say that without even knowing much about Osman Yousefzda or his work otherwise. (From what I could gather, it seems he has Afghan parents, but was born in the UK, and runs his own label "Osman". His first collection was shown in 2006).
I just hope more fashion designers will do the same!

Today I'm loving...
... the gorgeous photos from Kate Moss' wedding in the US Vogue issue of September 2011.
Now, I will be the first to admit that I have not always loved everything Kate has done, but she definitely has a very unique style and does everything she does in a very different way than most people, and with a lot of style.

How to dress well on a small clothing budget
A lot of people I know tell me they wish they could dress better, but that they simply cannot afford it.
I get that. Totally. But being someone who has always loved fashion, I have learned a few tricks that have helped me dress well even on a small budget for years (for instance, when I was studying at university).
Here are some of my best tips:
* Invest in quality when it comes to basics. I buy expensive bags, expensive black pants, expensive every day dresses and underwear, which a lot of people think is crazy, but I know quality when it comes to these pieces (which are used a lot!) will last me for years, making them cheaper in the long run.
* If quality is too expensive for you normally, save up for the sales. There are huge sales, even in designer stores at least twice a year that make the creme de la creme affordable for most of us. Take advantage of that!
* But don't go crazy during the sales! If it doesn't fit your body type or flatter your skin tone, it's not going to make you better dressed even if it was made by Yves Saint Laurent!
* Plan your purchases. Many of us tend to shop for too many of one thing (mine is tops for parties and other special occasions) while forgetting about something else (I never seem to have enough pants, for instance). To avoid wasting your money on duplicates, and impulse buys, always plan what you are going to buy in advance.
* Don't be a slave to fashion. All trends do not suit everyone. Period. So you don't need to try every new fad that you hear of.
* But be open to trying the trend that do suit you. That keeps your style up to date and keeps you looking young too. Just don't overdo it and wear all trends at once!

Today I'm loving...
... the Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2011 collection.
Now, Dolce & Gabbana is usually not one of my favorite brands, even though they have had some very nice collections in the past as well, of course.
But I saw this ad in a magazine I was looking through the other day, and became curious:
You see, I have always been a sucker for lace, and I thought it looked like they would have tons of lace pieces in their collection again. And yes, they have been using lace in their new collection. But with a modern twist, and in ways you haven't seen before.
I love both these looks!
And besides all the gorgeous lace (somewhat a Dolce & Gabbana trademark), they are also adding a lot of stars to their pieces, which really makes them stand out as well.
So yes, I would say Dolce & Gabbana did a very good job with their latest collection indeed! Thumbs up!

My weekend so far
My packages from ASOS and Forever 21 both arrived on the same day (how fun! I love opening packages!) and I went to the movies. And now I want to go again!
You see, while at the movies, I saw that there is a new SJP movie out, and since I am a huge fan of both her and Christina Hendricks, who also stars in the movie, I simply must see I don't know how she does it.
Has anyone seen it yet? Is it any good?

Sorry for the lack of posts lately
But I have been incredibly busy, really since after my wedding in May. It's mostly work, and I hope it will get better soon, but meanwhile, I work, work, work and rest the rest of the time. So there haven't really been many "blogworthy" things going on lately...
Hardly no shopping (besides a bit on ASOS and Forever 21), no spectacular experiences and no funny stories either.
But don't worry, I am planning to take more time off soon AND I also have both shopping and some cool experiences planned. So just bear with me!

Today I'm also loving...
... this gorgeous photo from the Alexander McQueen Fall 2011 Campaign, with Raquel Zimmermann and photographed by David Sims.
As you know, Alexander McQueen is one of my absolute all time favorite brands, if not even THE favorite brand, and I think this apocalyptic themed photograph captures the spirit of the Fall 2011 collection wonderfully.

Today I'm loving...
... this gorgeous Lanvin silk pajama.
Too bad it is CRAZY expensive though, over 1,200 GBP for a pajama is not something I would ever consider. But it is awfully cute!
