Today I'm loving...

... this skirt, that was shown on New York fashion week for Spring 2011 by Marc by Marc Jacobs.

The fabric is just great, it looks luxurious and fun at the same time, and the length is just perfect and so 50's, too!

Today I'm loving...

... this fantastic dress by Christian Siriano, from his SS2011 collection. Christian was always my favorite on Project Runway, and it's really nice to see that he keeps up the good work!

And speaking of Project Runway, I've seen a few episodes of the new season now as well, and it is as good as ever!

Today I'm loving...

... this amazing Marc by Marc Jacobs moleskine notebook, from Barneys!

I have been thinking of getting a moleskine notebook for a while now (it is such a classic, after all), so I'll have a stylish place to write down ideas when I am out and about. But I haven't found the perfect moleskine notebook yet (even though I almost settled for a hot pink one a while ago)... that is, until I saw this one, that is just adorable.

So now the only question is if I can order from Barneys if I don't live in the US? Gotta check that out a.s.a.p!

Having a blast

I love reading fashion magazines, and I love having time off for no particular reason, except that I want to be a bit lazy for a while. And starting today, I will have 10 days off to do just that! So I'm thrilled!

And to make my day even better, I just got a new issue of Marie Claire in the mail today. So life is pretty sweet right now!

Hope it is for you guys too!

Today I'm loving...

I am such a sucker for gimmicks. So of course I love this Whistles Intarsia Spectacle Jumper. I think it would be even more awesome on an older person with a great sense of humor though!

A thing that made me go "Hmmm?!"

Okay, so I know not everyone will agree with me on this, but I saw something on Net-a-porter today that I really didn't think worked very well. I am all for mixing and matching different styles, but this Christopher Kane Embroidered Leather jacket is just weird!

I mean, flowers just really do not suit a leather jacket, and this jacket makes Christopher Kane look schitzofrenic more than anything!

Today I'm loving...

... the combination of grey and red, which I think looks just great! Nanette Lepore showed a great example of this in her spring 2011 collection, but I think it will work just as well for fall.

Today I'm loving...

... these wonderful pics from Vogue Japan October 2010.
Oh, and due to the wardrobe planning I am currently doing and my attempts to build a capsule wardrobe, I purchased 2 pairs of jeggings (one black pair, one blue pair) and two basic tops yesterday (one black top and one red top), so my fall wardrobe is slowly being built to look like I want it to.

Have a great day everyone!

How I prepare for fall

So the time is here... it is almost fall, and we all need to start preparing for it, and just for fun I thought I would share my routine for preparing for fall with you guys.

First of all, twice a year I try to make a bigger effort regarding my wardrobe. I honestly believe that really great wardrobes are not created without a plan, so I try to make a plan for mine before every fall and before every spring.

I start out by looking through some fashion magazines (right now I am reading the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar) to get an idea of the latest trends, colors and such things. While I never follow any trends blindly, I do feel that this can be very inspirational and it's great to get some new, fresh ideas every once in a while.
(I do read fashion blogs and fashion websites such as Style.com on a regular basis too, of course, but since I do that all year round, it really is not something specific for fall or spring)

The next step is to sort through my exisisting wardrobe, and get rid of things that are worn out or damaged or just not relevant in some other way. This is great, because too much clutter in your wardrobe actually makes it much harder to get dressed in the morning. (This is the phase I am in right now)
I also put away all summer clothes, and take out some old favorites for fall and winter from my storage.

Once I have done that I have an idea of what kind of clothing I have to work with. This really helps, since you really can find some forgotten gems while doing this, it's like shopping in your own closet!

This is also helps me make a list of new things I need to buy. I make a list of basic items such as pants, tops, underwear and whatever it happens to be that I need right now, and then start my shopping for fall by buying those things.

After that is done, I allow myself to buy things I love, no matter if they are classic or not (even though I do tend to favor classic items). I know I have the basics covered after all, so I do not need to feel bad about getting some trendy pieces or whatever it is that I happen to fall in love with at the moment.

And that's pretty much it! This has been my shopping style for a few years now, and it really works for me. I know what I have, know what I need and allow myself to get things I adore. It really is the best way, and I truly recommend it!

(the wardrobe pictured is not mine, I am afraid. I wish!
I found it on Vee Vee Waa Waa)

Today I'm loving...

... another cardigan, surprise, surprise! (Don't worry, I am well aware of the fact that all these cardigans are getting pretty predictable, I'll stop soon, I swear!)

I have always had a thing for owls, they are so wise and cute, so it is really hard to resist this cute cardigan, even though I know I have no good reason what so ever to get it. It is pretty useless and not timeless in any way, but it is just so cute!

And shouldn't all girls get a few items just because of their cuteness from time to time too?

Today I'm loving...

... this adorable Matthew Williamson cardigan. I don't know what it is about me and cardigans lately, but I have been going nuts for them. I already bought 4 new ones in just a couple of week. And if this one wasn't so expensive, I might get it too!

A little something to cheer me up

I haven't really been shopping much lately, I haven't really seen stuff I like and I have also tried to cut down on my shopping a bit. But I did go to M*A*C yesterday, and I got this nice nude colored lip gloss.
I haven't actually been wearing nude on my lips for ages, but I was so intrigued by the new M*A*C Dare to Wear collection that I just had to try something new for a change.
(pic from Pulsera)

And to be honest, I really love how the gloss looks on my lips, it is a very natural look but a bit of a polished look at the same time, which is really great. So if anyone has been thinking of getting something from this M*A*C Dare to Wear collection, I highly recommend it! I bet you'll love it as much as I do!

Today I'm loving...

... these fab pics of the two geniuses Lady Gaga and Marc Jacobs from V Magazine. I love them both, so it is great to see pics of them both together!

Today I'm loving...

... these adorable ear buds from Modcloth. Who's to say that ear buds need to be boring?

Today I'm loving...

... this awesome Martine Gold tangled pearl necklace by Lee Angel.
I have always loved pearls, but I almost don't own any (I do have some though, but not nearly as many as I would like to have), simply because I think most pearl necklaces look too old-fashioned. And who wants to look older than they are, right?

But this necklace is fun and quirky. I love it!
